Miss World 2009 - Gibraltar's Kaiane Aldorino
Priyanka Chopra was in Johannesburg, South Africa this weekend to be a judge in the 2009 Miss World contest. The actress, who grabbed the title of Miss World in 2000, was in good spirits when she was asked to be part of the jury.
"When Julia Morley, who is in charge of the beauty pageant, invited me to be a judge, I was ecstatic. There I was a teenager all those years ago, nervous as a help on the same platform. Now I’m going in a totally different capacity," Priyanka said.
The Bollywood beauty donned a Suneet Verma saree as she handed over the crown to a speechless 2009 Miss World winner; Kaiane Aldorino from Gibraltar.
"I have no words. I am really happy," Aldorino said, adding "Thank you South Africa, this is the most wonderful moment of my life. As you can imagine, I am feeling extremely happy and I think that I need to sleep on this, to actually believe that it has happened to me. It is an amazing thing. I think that it will take a month to sink in."
And even though Miss India didn’t bag the award this year, Pooja Chopra was a favorite and got the title 'beauty with a purpose' for her charity work.
